Local aviation giant Mega Maldives Airlines is preparing to commence operations to Bangladesh.
Mega Maldives’ CEO George Weinmann told India media on Sunday that the company has requested the Indian government to authorise the airlines to commence flights between the Maldives and Bangladesh via Indian capital New Delhi.
Currently the only local airline operating to Bangladesh is the Maldives’ national carrier Maldivian, which commenced flights to Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka on November 15, 2012.
Meanwhile, Mega Maldives has begun ticket sales for its inaugural flight to New Delhi coming Monday. The airline’s three weekly flights will be the Maldives’ first direct flights to the Indian capital.
The airline is also planning to commence operation to India’s commercial centre of Mumbai next month.
