Japan signs four agreements to provide grant aid to Maldives

The agreements were signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer and Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives Takeuchi Midori at a ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry yesterday.

Four agreements have been signed under which Japan will be providing assistance to Maldives.

The agreements were signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer and Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives Takeuchi Midori at a ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry yesterday.

The agreements signed between Japan and Maldives are;

- Provision of a Customs Patrol Craft

- Grant of USD 1.7 million for establishing maritime safety and security

- Grant of USD 3.9 million to increase capacity to take preventive action against natural disasters and provision of equipment to be used in such efforts

- Grant of USD 3.7 million to procure equipment and resources required for Customs Patrol vessels

Maldives expressed appreciation for the continued support extended by Japan for the social and economic development of the Maldives.
