The feels like temperature in some areas across the Maldives has surpassed 44 degrees Celsius.

March and April are the warmest months across the Maldives, marked by significantly weakened winds, clear skies, and high humidity levels.

Last year, feels-like temperatures in some parts of the country also soared above 44 degrees Celsius. However, that temperature was recorded in April.

Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has said that the feels-like temperature in Hulhumale' at 11:00 hrs yesterday was recorded at 44.4 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the feels-like temperature was recorded at 41 degrees Celsius in Haa Dhaalu atoll Hanimadhoo, while in Seenu atoll Gan, it was recorded at 40.1 degrees Celsius.

Although humidity levels are high during this period, the feels-like temperature is much higher than the actual temperature.

During this period, the actual temperature ranges between 31 degrees Celsius and 38 degrees Celsius.

According to statistics released by MET, Haa Dhaalu atoll recorded the highest temperature in Maldives last year, reaching 34.6 degrees Celsius on May 6.

MET has urged the public to exercise caution as the country is currently experiencing extremely hot weather conditions.
