Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb has returned home on Friday evening, September 22 after an extended medical stay in Singapore.
Adeeb, who was the vice president during former president Abdulla Yameen's administration, was sentenced to jail for criminal convictions in the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) scandal.
He faced a 20-year prison sentence for graft conviction along with an MVR 2 million fine in 2020, which was a leniency owing to his plea bargain with the state.
Despite his prison sentence, he was shifted to house arrest due to his health condition.
He has requested for additional sentence leniency under parole, which remains pending.
