Members of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) passes amendments proposed to the party's general regulation.
Proposed amendments were passed during Sunday, August 21, session of ruling party's ongoing congress.
A total of 11 changes toe regulations were proposed. Post discourse by participating members, and further revisions, the changes have been given approval.
Highlighted prepositions include Parliament Speaker and MDP president Mohamed Nasheed's proposal to enact a think tank. The proposal was endorsed by Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer and was approved with 915 votes; only three dissented.
Proposals also included sustaining current regulations on appointing party branches, put forth by Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The preposition was approved with 901 votes, while only two dissented.
Another crucial proposal demanded MDP vice presidents to be appointed through party general assembly approval, and the inclusion of Women's Development Committee (WDC) members in prospective congresses. The amendment passed with 857 votes.
