Maldives has become a destination for a number of billionaire's super Yachts,

The Maldives Association of Yacht Agents (MAYA) said there are already about 20 superyachts in the country. A large number of super yachts come to the Maldives during the same period every year.

MAYA said many of these yachts have been in the area since last November. More superyachts are expected to arrive in May 2023.

The super yachts usually mostly dock in the Malé area, Ari atoll and Baa atoll.

These days, the largest number of yachts arrive in Maldives from the United States and Europe and Russia.

Many of the yachts that went to Qatar in during the World Cup in November 2022 have also left for other Asian countries after the tournament, from which most had come to Maldives and Thailand.

This is also one of the reasons why the number of superyachts have increased in Maldives during this period.

More than 90,000 tourists have arrived in Maldives so far this year, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism. This is a 22 percent increase over the same period last year. Since the beginning of 2023, the country has received an average of more than 5,000 tourists a day.

While the state aims to attract 1.8 million tourists this year, Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoon said the number of tourist arrivals would exceed the projection with the opening of Chinese borders.
