STO has donated MVR 300,000 to the telethon held by PSM yesterday to raise funds for the Palestinian people. The company had stationed donation boxes at several outlets across the country as well as pharmacies and supermarkets.
State Trading Organization (STO) has donated MVR 300,000 to the telethon 'Palestine Aa Eku Dhivehin' [Maldivians with Palestine] held yesterday by State media PSM.
STO stated that donation boxes were stationed at the STO Head Office, STO People's Choice supermarket, several outlets of the company located in various atolls as well as STO pharmacies in order to raise funds to aid the Palestinian people.
STO had donated funds for the Palestinian cause last year as well. STO group of companies has donated a total of MVR 1 million as aid for Palestine this time.
This telethon organized by PSM was held under President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's initiative, and ran from 08:00hrs to 00:00hrs yesterday. PSM said today that the telethon had received over MVR 14 million through donation boxes placed across the region, online transfers and donations received through island councils.
Various SOEs, State organizations, schools, companies, and individuals had also donated to the cause through this nation-wide telethon. PSM said earlier that MVR 1.8 million was received in the first six hours alone.
