Masthoor Husnee, on Monday, was appointed Vice President of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Members present at JSC's meeting on Monday unanimously agreed to appoint Masthoor as the commission's Vice President.
Masthoor was appointed to the JSC as President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's representative on the commission, on December 12.
A motion of no-confidence, filed in November, led to the dismissal of the former Vice President and Guraidhoo MP Ibrahim Riza.
According to JSC regulations, President and Vice President of the commission must be appointed through a vote.
Supreme Court's Justice Abdulla Areef is currently serving as the President of the JSC. To date, the Presidency of the commission has been held by Supreme Court judges.
