BML, Mastercard introduce digital payments

Bank of Maldives (BML), on Thursday, officially introduced Mastercard products to Maldives at a ceremony held at Crossroads Maldives.

The complete range of Mastercard products, including the Mastercard Business Debit Card and the premium Mastercard World Credit Card, were introduced during the event.

The new cards and all existing Mastercard products support contactless payments to support a faster, more secure and seamless payment experience.

Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) Ali Hashim presided over the launching ceremony.

Through the launch of Mastercard products, BML aims to connect individuals and businesses by facilitating convenient and secure payments as well as better customer experiences.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, BML's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Tim Sawyer stated, “Bank of Maldives is proud to remain at the forefront of digital banking in the Maldives, and our collaboration with Mastercard allows us to work together on our shared vision of driving innovation to enrich customer experience".

The bank's CEO went on to add that the new range of products would enhance customers' payment experience and facilitate the creation of a safe, secure and efficient environment to conduct transactions.

“We are very pleased to enter into this partnership with the Bank of Maldives to offer the full suite of Mastercard products to the people of the Maldives", said Mastercard's Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives R. B. Santosh Kumar.

"While providing them with more convenient payment experiences, leading to greater customer satisfaction, this also helps us expand our regional footprint and provide seamless solutions to a wider cross-section of people".

BML manages a nationwide network of 37 branches across all 20 atolls, 49 Self Service Banking Centres, 113 ATMs, 5,700 Point of Sale Merchants, 277 agents and a range of digital banking services. The bank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting individuals, businesses and communities across Maldives.
