Guesthouses in islands have been fully booked with the increase in domestic flights for this year's Fitr Eid holidays.
According to the calendar, this year's Eid al-Fitr falls on Monday. Eid holidays will last for a week from Friday onwards.
Island Aviation, which operates the national airline, Maldivian, told "Mihaaru" that starting from Thursday their flights have been completely booked for the entire Eid holidays.
"All airports are busy due to increased movements," Island Aviation said.
"We are looking to provide maximum flights to all sectors according to availability of schedule"
Many islands closest to Male' are also booked for the holidays. Most guesthouses in K. Maafushi, K. Thulusdhoo, K. Huraa, K. Guraidhoo and K. Dhiffushi are full.
"Thulusdhoo is completely booked. We currently receive 10 to 12 calls per day, as they cannot find lodging," said Thulusdhoo Council President Aslam Moosa.
President of Maafushi Council Hassan Solah said guesthouses in the island are now 100 percent full. Eid will be the most busiest two days.
Maafushi, whichhas the largest guesthouse business in the country, is scheduled to celebrate Eid extravagantly this year. A major music show will also be held on the island in addition to a fireworks display. Yaara, Habeys Boduberu Group, Safoora and Friends' live music and DJ by Inma will participate in the music show to be held on the night of Eid.
While a lot of people are travelling for Eid, This is the first Eid since all measures taken against COVID-19 were lifted.
