Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, on Wednesday, that Secretary of State of the United States of America, Michael R. Pompeo will make an official visit to the Maldives on October 28.
During this visit, Secretary Pompeo will pay a courtesy call on the President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and have official talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.
According to the Foreign Ministry, expected discussions of the visit include the global battle against the COVID-19 pandemic as well as ongoing and future collaborations.
The visit of Secretary Pompeo is the highest-level visit by a US Government official to the Maldives, since the visit of US Secretary of State, James Addison Baker III on 24 July 1992.
