The Democrats have condemned Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s decision to not cooperate in holding the swearing in ceremony of President Elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu unless the no-confidence motion against Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed is allowed to proceed as scheduled.

The Democrats - a break away party formed by former members of MDP who support Nasheed - alleges that it is incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih who, with his defeat in September's presidential election, is encouraging MDP's parliamentary group (PG) to obstruct Muizzu's swearing in ceremony.
