Mohamed Rasheed (Mode) won third place in the 10-kilometer marathon category at OSIM Sundown 2019 hosted in Singapore.

Mohamed, who was sponsored by Marathon Shop, won third place by finishing the race in 35 minutes and three seconds. This is the second notable achievement by Mohamed this year -- he also won third place in his age category in the New Delhi half marathon event held in February.

According to Mohamed, he ran the marathon as part of the training to secure a slot in the South Asian Games scheduled to be held in December. He further explained that he ran 10 kilometers as he had run the half marathon at TFG Long Run in May.

"I am leaving to Kathmandu for a five-month training programme in July. I am trying to get a chance to compete in the South Asian Games from now on", Mohamed said.

In January during the Dubai Marathon, the athlete completed a full marathon in two hours and 37 minutes with a three-minute improvement. Mohamed has bettered his time by 14 minutes within the past three years.

Currently, he is training by himself with the aid of sponsors and the cooperation of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

Another Maldivian athlete, Nasrullah Ahmed (Nasru), completed his 45th half marathon at OSIM Sundown as well. However, the official lap time of the experienced runner sponsored by Coca Cola is not available yet. Nasrullah is the Maldivian athlete with the highest number of completed marathons.
