Ibrahim Iyas has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) of Island Aviation, which runs the national airline Maldivian.
He was serving as the Chief Operation Officer of the company when he was promoted to the post of MD. He has been serving in that capacity since 2019.
Having joined the company in 2008 as a Safety and Quality Manager, Iyas has been working at Island Aviation for a period of 15 years. He has since served in various managerial positions, including three years as the Engineering Head at the department overseeing the flights operated by the company.
He has completed his Masters studies in aeronautical engineering at the University of London's Imperial College. On his return to Maldives in 2004, he first worked at the Civil Aviation Department. He has worked in the civil aviation field for 19 years now.
