Finland International School celebrates ISA accreditation

Finland International School, managed by Islanders Education, has celebrated receiving its International School Association (ISA) accreditation, an accreditation provider trusted by UNESCO and many international bodies, today.

A special ceremony was held at the school today to commemorate the achievement, where the official accreditation documents were presented tot he school. With this, the school also hoisted up the ISA flag in it's campus.

"Proud to announce our historic accreditation by the prestigious International School Association (ISA), making us the first school in the Maldives to be awarded full-membership by a globally recognized accreditation body," Finland International School posted on Facebook.

During the ceremony, the School's Principal Eija Valanne said that the accreditation from such a prestigious organisation such as IAS is a big achievement and development for the school. He also added that he hopes this would open up more opportunities for the school to even further improve its education quality.

"This is an opportunity to collaborate with other schools and provide more opportunities for students to develop in the international world. This will open many doors for students' development and growth," he said.

IAS's Vice Chair, Iskandar Rizal Hamza also spoke at the assembly, saying that the organisation's goal is to build a peaceful and inclusive world where everyone has equal opportunities. He also added that the organisation brings together cultures and customs of different countries to build a generation that respects each other.

The organisation will also enable Finland International School's students to participate in the cause of building a safer, more diverse and inclusive world, he also said.

State Minister at the Ministry of Higher Education Ahmed Shafiu was also in attendance at the event and described the accreditation of a Maldivian based international school by an international organisation as a significant achievement for the education system of the country.

"This is a victory for us all. It is proof that education can be provided at an international standard in the Maldives. And this is proof of the effort this school is putting towards providing world-class education," he said.

As such, he said that the global resources which come from the association would enable the school to better teach its curriculum and give an overall better educational experience for children. He went on to say that this honour would also provide many opportunities to further develop the quality of teachers, adding that this has paved way for building a generation in Maldives that respects the culture and customs of other countries.

This IAS accreditation is the first accreditation issued to a Maldivian school for maintaining international educational standards. Finland International School is also the only school in the entire South Asian region to have received IAS's full membership.
