Former President Mohamed Nasheed proclaimed late Monday that he would not interfere with the work of Parliament despite the joint opposition receiving its majority.

Making the remark in an audio message played at an opposition rally, he added that the four opposition leaders are working to achieve a better government.

Noting that the Maldives has observed several things unseen in other nations, he declared that morals must be learned from the past 15 years of experience.

He stated that the opposition is together trying to free the people from their anguish, highlighting that efforts are being laid to provide people with shelter, better education and sufficient jobs.

He further said that together with former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, leader of Jumhoory Party Qasim Ibrahim and leader of Adhaalath Party Imran Abdulla, they are working to achieve a more sustainable development for the nation.
