MTCC launches ferry service in nine more atolls

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced ferry services in nine more atolls of the Maldives.

The company which provides ferry services in a number of atolls launched its new services in the atolls of Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, Noonu, Baa, Raa, Lhaviyani, Gaafu Alif and Gaafu Dhaalu on Saturday.

The inaugural ferry rides on Saturday were free of charge.

According to MTCC, the rates for ferry rides are the same in all the atolls it services, with MVR 22 for intra-atoll rides and MVR 53 for inter-atoll rides, with Goods and Services Tax (GST).

The only atolls with ferry services provided by a company other than MTCC so far are Faafu, Dhaalu and Addu, and the island of Fuvahmulah.
