A deadly collision between a Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) passenger bus and a car in front of Male' Sports Complex (Kulhivaru Ekuveni) left at least four individuals injured.
The collision took place on Boduthakurufaanu Magu, on the southwest end of Male'.
The incident was reported on Monday evening, when a double-decker bus crashed into a car. The collision had left the car crushed beyond repair.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) sprung to the location of incidence to rescue the passengers stuck inside the car with the assistance of Fire and Rescue officials.
Local law enforcement authority had further confirmed that four individuals with various degrees of injuries were rushed to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for urgent medical attention.
An official from IGMH had corroborated the news, further adding that the accident victims were treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
The official however, refrained from disclosing further details about the victims' conditions.
Videos circulating across various social media platforms shows that a speeding red Camaro skids across the asphalt and crashes into a double-decker bus. The car's rear was crushed while the double-decker's front was left with a large dent from the impact.
Following the incident, MTCC has temporarily diverted its buses from the city's west end to east end.
