Two individuals were caught for cutting and stealing betel leaves in Male’, with the stolen goods amounting to 2 sacks.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) spokesperson Ahmed Shifan stated that the incident occurred around 08:00 hrs in the morning.
Shifan confirmed that a 43-year-old and a 63-year-old were arrested in connection with the case.
Theft incidents have surged significantly this Ramadan, with a total of 110 reported cases in the Male’ area during the first 15 days of Ramadan.
