Ministry for National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has said once again that they are working to open Kudagiri Picnic Island to the public within this month.

State minister at the ministry for national planning, Akram Kamaaludheen said on Tuesday that work was still ongoing in order to ensure they can open Kudagiri to the public.

The government had previously aimed to open the island on Maldives' Independence Day, on July 26 of this year. However when that was not feasible, they later set the date to November 11.

The government was not successful in opening the island to the public by that date either. Now, they are working to open the island before the year is over.

Planning ministry have said Kudagiri island was developed so that families can spend a pleasant time together. According to the ministry, the arrangements for the island are based on a modern and environmentally friendly concept.
