Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) announces mini bus services will begin from 5:45 a.m. to 12:15 a.m.
The mini bus service which began today, will operate on three routes in Male'. A bus on each route will make a trip to bus stops every 15 minutes. While mini bus services will be free for the next two weeks, passengers will be charged MVR 7 as scheduled after the period.
QR tickets for the bus service are available on the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) website and application. The RTL application is available for free from the Google Play Store and the App Store.
MTCC said although the public will be charge for the service, people over the age of 65, children under the age of three and people with special needs will be able to travel free of charge on presentation of their ID cards. Children in school uniforms will also be able to use the mini bus service for free.
The RTL bus will operate on three routes; Ameenee magu, Sosun magu and Orchid magu. The routes will also serve four neighborhoods in the city: Henveiru, Galolhu, Machangoalhi and Maafannu. The three routes will have a total of 40 bus stops.
A total of 18 buses will be used to provide mini bus services in Male', from which eight buses have ramps and wheelchair access for people with disabilities. Mini buses can seat 20-22 passengers and accommodate 10 passengers standing.
