Male' City Council confirms the spacious parking zone in Ameenee Magu, currently in development will be opened for public parking in the coming week.
The city's Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu claims the parking zone can accommodate a total of 335 motorbikes.
"We are developing the parking zone at the land allocated for us by the state, prior to the mini bus service. Upon completion, vehicle parking can in the road can be shifted to the new zone," Dr. Muizzu said.
Dr. Muizzu further clarified an additional parking area specific automobiles, will be developed close to the motorbike parking zone.
The city's mayor had also confirmed locations will be allocated from the main road, Majeedhee Magu, to develop parking spaces. Dr. Muizzu claimed work on developing the zones will commence once the government allocates plots for development.
Prior to commencement of the mini-bus services in Male' City, parking at the city's main road has been fully prohibited. All the previous parking zones across the road have now been removed, with caution lines painted as replacement.
Reports also confirm state will be prohibiting vehicle parking in other major roads which include, Fareedhee Magu and Orchid Magu.
The decision for parking restrictions in major roads, without alternative solutions, have lead to the irk of the public.
