Maldivian Airline has reduced the fare of the special flights to Malaysia in April.
The airline had scheduled special flights for Fitr Eid, from April 28 to May 7. Fitr Eid is celebrate when Ramadan ends, on the first day of Shawwal.
This year, Fitr Eid falls on May 2.
Although the price for these trips were initially set for USD 399 for a round trip, they have now been significantly reduced. The flight from Malaysia to Maldives is now for USD 159, while the trip from Maldives to Malaysia is priced at USD 150. A round trip can now be purchased for USD 309.
This is a USD 90 decrease.
Passengers on these flights will be allowed a maximum of 30 kgs of luggage.
The airline said that the price was reduced to allow Maldivian students and other Maldivians residing in Malaysia to be able to spend Eid holidays in Maldives.
After closing its borders in 2020 due to the pandemic, Malaysia reopened its borders this month. Prior to the pandemic, Malaysia was one of the most visited countries by Maldivians.
