Local media reported late Tuesday night that a Maldivian citizen was found dead in Malaysia.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed reports of the death and stated that authorities were working with the Maldivian Embassy in Malaysia to investigate the matter.
Thus far, no information has been disclosed about the deceased individual.
Approximately 2,300 Maldivians reside in Maldives for educational and other purposes. Moreover, various local travel to the Southeast Asian country for vacation during the year-end holidays.
