The President made these remarks in a special message delivered today on occasion of the International Day of Clean Energy.
He noted that the Maldives has advanced renewable energy efforts, especially through solar power initiatives.
The President went on to highlight Maldives' target of generating 33 percent of electricity in the country through renewable sources by 2028.
He further mentioned the Energy Act and energy sector roadmap, which outlines the country's plans to ensure that 'energy supply is sufficient, reliable, sustainable, secure, and affordable'.
President Muizzu also recognized the contributions of the private sector towards global climate goals through their investments in renewable energy.
He extended thanks to international financing partners for their support in the endeavours, emphasizing the need to further increase funding for Small Island Developing States.
