Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) brought in a new shipment of MVR 2 coins following a recent scarcity of stocks.
According to MMA's statement, the new stock of MVR 2 coins were stored at the national treasury.
The MVR 2 coin was redesigned with the introduction of the new ‘Ran Dhiha Faheh’ note series to mark the 50th Independence Day of Maldives.
Moreover, two new orders were made since 2017 due to the lack of stocks.
MMA has printed new stocks of Maldivian currency in varying amounts due to the reduction of stocks. The last order was made in August 2018, for the 50 laari sub-denomination of the Maldivian Rufiyaa.
