No airline has been permitted to conduct direct flights between Maldives and Israel, Transport Ministry has said today.

The ministry further said the rumors stating direct flights will be started between the two states are false and neither do they plan to give this permission to any party.

This was said after several newspapers, including Israeli ones, had reported direct flights were to be operated between Maldives and Israel soon.

According to an Israeli newspaper, these flights will be operated by Air Seychelles.

However, Air Seychelles have been operating flights between Seychelles and Maldives, which Israeli tourists often use to enter Maldives. Another route Israelis take to reach Maldives is to enter via Dubai.

Maldives had cut all ties with Israel back in 2014 due to Israel's attacks on Palestine. However, Israeli tourists are still allowed to enter Maldives.
