Multiple foreign dignitaries paid courtesy calls on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, during the sidelines of the Maldives Partnership Forum, held at Kurumba Maldives Resort from June 17-18.
These high-level officials include the Serbian Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy Zoran Djordjevic as well as two Assistant Secretary-Generals at the United Nations (UN) Haoling Xu and Vitaly Vanshelboim, representing the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Offices for Projects and Services (UNOPS) respectively.
President Solih assured the Serbian Labour Minister that Maldives prioritized its commitments in the field of labour, adding that the welfare of the working population was of key importance to his government.
In his meeting with the UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP's Regional Director for Asia and Pacific, Haoling Xu, the President expressed gratitude for the institution's valuable ongoing work. He asserted that UNDP led projects had greatly promoted socio-economic development in Maldives.
Additionally, he thanked Assistant Secretary General Vanshelboim, for UNOPS services to Maldives, highlighting efforts to enhance water security in the country.
