Maldives Immigration is gearing up to ensure all expatriates in the country are documented and abide by the law.
Maldives Immigration has detected and denied entry to several foreigners attempting to cross into the country with falsified documents.
According to Immigration, four foreigners were intercepted while trying to enter Maldives with false stamps on their passports on 3rd July, 2024 via Velana International Airport in Hulhulé.
However, the authority did not reveal the nationalities of the individuals.
This comes as Immigration is currently carrying out major raid operations in the capital of the country to identify expatriates in violation of immigration regulations.
Some of the recent raids include ones on the local markets in Malé, where foreigners were found manning the market stalls - something which is illegal by law in the country.
Immigration says those found in violation of the law would be deported.
