Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has hosted successful roadshows in two prominent South Korean cities; Seoul and Busan.
The first show was held on June 21, 2023 at Seoul with the aim of connecting with potential operators and agents as well as to strengthen trade relationships while promoting the Maldives as a top destination for South Korean travelers. The second roadshow was held on June 23, 2023 in Busan with the same aim.
Besides MMPRC, a total of 11 prominent companies from the Maldivian tourism industry took part in the roadshows. The companies in the Maldivian contingent included;

- Inner Maldives
During the roadshow in Seoul, MMPRC organized a social media contest where participants had the chance to win Maldivian-themed merchandise. Additionally, a raffle sponsored by Robinson Maldives, RIU Hotels & Resorts, Westin Hotels & Resorts, and Cocoon Maldives was held during the roadshow in Busan. Two lucky winners of the raffle received a complimentary holiday in the Maldives.
According to MMPRC, the primary objective of the roadshows were to ensure that South Korea remains a significant source market for the Maldives. The roadshows aimed to strengthen collaborations and partnerships with potential travel agents and industry partners in order to further promote the Maldives as a tourist destination.
Historically, South Korea has been an important source market for the Maldives' tourism industry. In 2022, South Korea ranked as the ninth-largest market, contributing 35,948 annual arrivals to the Maldives. As of June 14, 2023, the annual arrivals from South Korean market reached 16,179, placing it as the tenth strongest market for the year so far.
