An overturned speedboat located in Maalhos, Alif Alif Atoll, has been identified as one that had departed from Male’ to Ukulhas Beach Inn on Thursday. One of the two Maldivian men en route to the resort have been found while the other is missing.
The speedboat did not have any personnel aboard when it was found north of Ukulhas on Friday morning.
Police said that one of the men on the speedboat was found near Feridhoo, also in the same atoll, and he was being treated in the island’s Health Center.
This morning, Maldives National Defese Force (MNDF) had announced they had found an overturned speedboat and that they were looking to identify the owner. In a series of tweets made by Maldives Police Service afterwards, they said the speedboat had been reported to them after no word from the crew had been received after the speedboat left Male’ around 1:00 p.m. yesterday.
Police has requested contact them if they have any information regarding the missing man via 119 or 3322111.
The overturned speedboat has now been brought to the Maalhos harbour.
