President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Saturday morning departed on an official visit to three countries: Qatar, Serbia, and Germany.

According to the President’s Office, the President is first set to visit Doha, Qatar, where he will attend the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5).

He will then set off for Serbia, where the two countries will sign a number of agreements.

Finally, President Solih will visit Germany, where he will meet with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and hold bilateral discussions.

Last November, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid made an official visit to Serbia and met with his Serbian counterpart, Ivica Dacic. At a press conference held after the meeting, Dacic said that the two discussed agreements on cooperation in sports, education, and visa arrangements between the two countries.

According to the UN, the LDC5 is a "once-in-a-decade opportunity to accelerate sustainable development in places where international assistance is needed the most—and to tap the full potential of the Least Developed Countries, helping them make progress on the road to prosperity."
