The island nation raised the money via a telethon fundraiser event, organized by the "Pakistan Maldives Friendship" Association held on October 1.

According to the association's vice president Hamdhoon Rasheed, they collected the funds through donations made directly to their fund boxes as well as transfers through DhiraaguPay and Ooredoo m-Faisaa.

The association had donated the entire sum of the raised relief fund, which was received by Pakistan ambassador to the Maldives Akhtar Mukhtaar. The handover took place during a special ceremony held at the national radio station; Dhivehi-Raajjeyge Adu.

Moreover, the association awarded certificates of recognition to six volunteers and nine local media outlets for their contribution and assistance to the telethon.

Pakistan came under critical condition, with over one-third of its geographical land flooded due to heavy rainfall since June 2022. Owing to heavy rainfall and land splits, the country reported deaths in these instances were well over 1,700 with 33 million becoming desperate for aid and relief.
