Pakistan-Maldives Friendship Association elects President and Vice President

Former Spokesperson for the President's Office Masood Imad was elected as the President of the Pakistan Maldives Friendship Association (PMFA) on Wednesday evening.

PFAM is a registered organization in Maldives. It was established to promote friendship, culture and sports exchange between the two nations.

Masood was elected as President in an election that was held on PMFA's Annual General Meeting in the Pakistan High commission in Maldives. Masood had served as the Spokesperson to the President's Office in former President Mohamed Waheeds's administration.

Hamdhoon Rasheed, former Acting Commissioner of the Police for a short period during former president Abdulla Yameen's administration, was elected as Vice President of PMFA.

Pakistan High Commissioner in Maldives Vice Admiral (retired) Athir Mukhtar and Deputy Head of the Mission Zulqurnain Ahmad also attended the election last evening.

While the candidates for this election was nominated online, the election was held in person.

Mukhtar said he trusts all the elected new officials and believes in them to undertake activities in a coordinated manner that would benefit both nations.

Newly elected President of PMFA Masood said he would work to enhance the relationship between Pakistan and Maldives in his presidency.

2021 marks 55 years since diplomatic relations was established between Maldives and Pakistan.
