The former Judicial Administrator Hassan Saeed was appointed as the new Resident Deputy High Commissioner of Maldives to Pakistan.

Saeed, who was dismissed as the Judicial Administrator in the previous administration, was appointed to a political post recently.

He was notably among those arrested during the state of emergency declared in the wake of the Supreme Court's landmark ruling on February 1, 2018, which had ordered the release of nine political prisoners.

The then-judicial administrator, along with former Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and former Supreme Court Judge Ali Hameed, were charged with accepting bribes. The Criminal Court acquitted them of the charges in October 2018, stating that it could not proceed with the case based on the burden of proof.

The Criminal Court also sentenced Saeed in July 2018 to four months and 24 days in prison over refusal to respond to a police summons. However, the court ordered his release in November 2018, as Saeed had been remanded for a period of time longer than his sentence during the trial.
