President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Tuesday, sent a message of condolence to the Crown Prince of Kuwait Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, following the death of former Kuwaiti Emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Conveying his sadness, President Solih said that the world had "lost a great reformer, diplomat and peacemaker".
Further, the president acknowledged the late Emir as a great friend to Maldives, who implemented several initiatives to provide the island nation with generous assistance and development cooperation "for which our entire nation owes him a debt of gratitude".
In solidarity with the Kuwaiti people, the Maldivian flag will be flown at half mast to honour his passing.
