A man accused of drugging and raping a minor has been arrested while on the run.

Maldives Police Service has revealed today that an individual accused of drugging and subsequently raping a 13 year old minor has been arrested.
In a message sent to media outlets, Maldives Police Service said that the arrested individual is a 27 year old male.
The incident took place in a northern atoll island last Sunday. Authorities began searching for the alleged suspect upon the incident being reported.
The matter came to light yesterday, and authorities announced that they were on the lookout for the accused after many called for his arrest.
While the authorities circulated the image of the accused, details pertaining to the case, such as the name of the minor and the island where the incident took place, will not be reported to ensure the privacy of the minor involved.
