The recently appointed Ambassador of Finland to Maldives Harri Kämäräinen, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, on Sunday.
According to the Ministry, the two representatives discussed ways to further strengthen and boost the existing bilateral relations existing priority areas such as upholding rule of law, good governance and cooperation in the fields of information technology, health, education and environment.
Minister Shahid emphasized the importance of higher education for the administration and expressed the government’s interest in establishing contacts with academic institutions, to provide more opportunities for Maldivian students to study in Finland.
Ambassador Kämäräinen stated that the Finnish government was willing to collaborate with the Maldivian government in order to provide assistance in the priority areas.
Minister Shahid was accompanied by Senior Desk Officer of the Foreign Ministry Aishath Zeeshan Zuhuree, while Ambassador Kämäräinen, was accompanied by the Honorary Consul of Finland to Maldives Abdulla Saeed.
