EU Ambassadors pay courtesy call on President Solih

A delegation of European Union Ambassadors held an official visit with President Ibrahim Solih, following the conclusion of the Fourth Policy Dialogue between the Maldives and the EU held on Monday at Kurumba Maldives.

Over the brief meeting, President and the Ambassadors discussed a range of issues, focused primarily around the Maldives’ political situation, with special regard to the parliamentary elections slated for April 6.

President Solih reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring free, fair and competitive elections, in accordance with the government’s commitment to consolidating democracy in the country.

Additionally, the President noted that Maldives was prepared to engage with the EU on several mutually beneficial policy matters, emphasizing prospects for enhancing trade between Maldives and EU States.

Similarly, the Ambassadors discussed ways to facilitate investment and economic cooperation between the EU States and Maldives.

Concluding the call, the Ambassadorial delegation praised the success of the government’s 100-day agenda and wished President Solih success in fulfilling his responsibilities towards the Maldivian people.
