HDC announces training opportunities with monthly allowance

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) announces new apprenticeship program with opportunities in 10 different fields.

According to the corporation, HDC will train a total of 100 apprentices under the program. The new apprenticeship program officially opened window application on Tuesday, 17th May.

This marks the fifth edition of the program while a total of 30 employees of HDC will be taking part along with the 100 general apprentices.

Moreover, HDC confirms that the program will proceed in accordance with the "National Competency Standards" of Maldives National Skills Development Authority.

Furthermore, upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive Maldives Qualification Authority's Level-3 certification.

Earlier, Ministry of Economic Development and Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment signed on a memorandum of understanding to facilitate the program.

HDC also announced training programs will be focused in vessel welding, machinery, gardening, electricity and plumbing as well as carpentry, refrigeration and construction site supervision.

Meanwhile, the programs will run for a duration of six months while participants will receive a monthly allowance of MVR6,000.

Additionally, HDC has confirmed 20 percent of the total participants will be specific for women in a bid to promote women empowerment and inclusivity.

The 2022 program will include theoretical classroom sessions as well as six hours of soft skills training, while the applicants with the highest performance score will receive opportunities to work in HDC based on availability.

HDC assures its continued commitment and support in realizing Maldives government's pledge of providing academic and skill training for 3,000 youths before the end of the presidential term.
