The Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and the Maldives National Party (MNP) have signed a coalition agreement for the second round of the presidential election to be held on September 30.

The agreement was signed by the interim leader of PPM/PNC Abdul Raheem Abdulla and President of the MNP Mohamed Nazim at a function held at Meerumaa Hall today.

Both Nazim and Abdul Raheem said the agreement focuses on establishing an environment where both parties can work together.

When questioned about the allocation of government posts if the PPM/PNC coalition wins in the election, Nazim said that this decision will be up to Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the presidential candidate of PPM/PNC.

"Our overall aim is to win this election. The agreement was prepared to facilitate an environment where we can work together. I want to repeat that we stand firm with Dr. Muizzu and win this election by a large margin" said former Defense Minister Nazim.

Nazim said MNP has no demands from a coalition government. He said they will follow the instructions of Dr. Muizzu without any conditions.

"I am ready to assist Dr. Muizzu with anything he requests. I believe we can work with a good government. We are working with that confidence" said Nazim.
