Telecom giant Dhiraagu on Wednesday launched the application 'Tracking Service', which can live-track marine vessels.

The new application was officially launched by Chief Marketing Officer Mahmud Dasser and Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail at the Maldives Marine Expo.

Those interested in testing out the application can do so at the three-day expo organized by the National Boating Association which kicked off on Wednesday.

Using this application, boat operators can receive live updates and the exact locations of vessels located anywhere in Maldives. This would be particularly useful in emergencies to ascertain the immediate whereabouts of vessels.

Furthermore, by pressing the 'Panic' feature in the application, users can directly dial emergency numbers.
