EC publicizes voter's registry for local elections

The Elections Commission (EC), on Monday, publicized the list of voters eligible to vote in both local council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) elections, scheduled for April 4.

The voter's registry can be viewed from the government's gazette, the EC website and is publicly displayed at Island Councils and City Councils.

EC will accept complaints regarding the list from 0830 hrs to 1500 on official working days and from 0900 hrs to 1500 on weekends until February 20.

Complaints can be lodged at island councils or at the elections office housed in former Jamaluddin School.

Individuals can also text IDNO (space) VR to 1414 to check their status on the voter's registry.

A total of 980 councillors and 929 women's committee members will be elected in the upcoming election. The 980 councillors will include 18 atoll council members, 179 island council presidents and 372 female councillors.
