The Maldives table tennis (TT) national squad for the upcoming Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) in Madagascar, scheduled to take place in August, has been announced.
The country's table tennis (TT) squad comprises a total of 12 players, including six female players and six male players.
The female players include are Fathimath Dheema Ali, Aishath Rafa Nazim, Mishka Mohamed Ibrahim, Laisa Fathuhullah, Fathimath Jumana Nimal, and Aminath Shiura Shareef.
The men's players are Mohamed Shaffan Ismail, Moosa Munsif Ahmed, Mohamed Zeesth Naseem, Akhyar Ahmed, Ahmed Tabin Shujau, and Zeek Hassan Lateef.
TT athletes from Maldives have been undergoing training in Croatia and India as part of their preparations for the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG).
In addition to the participating athletes, two Maldivian umpires, Mohamed Yameen and Azzam Ibrahim, have been selected to officiate in this year's IOIG tournament.
The participants of the IOIG youth camp include Aun Ibrahim Latheef and Minha Mahjoob Shujau.
In the last table tennis tournament held in Mauritius in 2019, the Maldives achieved remarkable success by winning a total of three gold medals. The gold medals were secured in the team event, women's doubles, and women's singles categories.
Maldives also earned silver medals in both the women's doubles and singles events.
