Four nominations for the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom) on behalf of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih have been forwarded to the parliament on Wednesday.
According to the letter sent to the parliament by the President’s Office, a position in the Broadcom will become vacant on March 17 as member Ahmed Waheed’s term expires on that day. The President forwarded his nominations from the applications that were submitted after the position was announced to the public.
The four names sent for the parliament’s consideration are:
1. Shiham Mohamed Waheed, from Malé
2. Shan Solih Mohamed, from Dh. Kudahuvadhoo
3. Hussain Amr, from Villingili
4. Shafa Shafeeq, from Dh. Meedhoo
After commission member Ahmed Gais’ position became vacant on January 8, the President forwarded five names for the parliament’s consideration for his post.
The names are currently being reviewed by the Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions.
