Medianet warns tourist establishments over illegally broadcasting television channels under their authorised distributorship.
The company said they would take legal action against any establishment violating or infringing the rights held by them. This includes broadcasting television channels Medianet has the rights to without their express permission. In a press release by the company, they further added that the legal action they will be pursuing includes, but is not limited to suing the violators for financial compensation under Broadcasting Act and Copyright and Related Rights Act.
The company had outlined a total 48 channels that had been broadcast by third parties without their permission.
In their press release, they pleaded with Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom) and other relevant state authorities to take appropriate legal action against such violators.
