Must revive the traits of true muslims: President Muizzu

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized the importance of renewing the traits of true muslims within society in today's speech commemorating the day Maldives embraced Islam, marked annually on Rabi-ul Awwal 2 of the Islamic calendar.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized the importance of renewing the traits of true muslims within society in today's speech commemorating the day Maldives embraced Islam, marked annually on Rabi-ul Awwal 2 of the Islamic calendar.

He called on all to cooperate in efforts to transforming Maldivian society into one led by the principles of the Quran and Sunnah, saying that things seen is society today appear to contravene these ways.

The President went on to remind citizens that the Sunnah teaches to not spread falsehoods or utter insults, encouraging to speak the truth and rightful words.

He went on to state the importance of intellectual development as a crucial part of nation-building, alongside other efforts such as in infrastructure.

With the ceremony coinciding with Teacher's Day, marked October 5th, President Muizzu recognized teachers' pivotal role in shaping future generations.

He called on teachers to develop young minds instilling a strong respect for national identity, accountability and responsibility. It was also highlighted that this responsibility falls not only upon teachers, but rather society as a whole.

According to the President, youth empowerment also requires a good understanding of Islam and national identity, and for these to be shared in ways that youth can identify with.

In his speech, the President urged for the representation of the principles in Islam and Quran in Maldivian society, and to eradicate the current presence of un-Islamic practices in society.

During the ceremony, the President also presented awards and prizes to 28 Hafizs who have completed the memorization of the Quran.
