Walking along a stretch of beach extending into the lagoons surrounded by sea on both sides, young Amee and her friends notice an elderly school worker, Manike Dhatha, an elderly school worker who is critically ill but continues to work tirelessly.

Amee, moved by Manike Dhatha’s dedication to her job, wished to help her in any way possible. By offering her help, Amee knew she could show that her work was appreciated. Despite her young age, Amee realizes that kindness and compassion could make a significant difference in someone’s life.

This is the story of ‘Hinithun’ [smile] an inspiring short film released by Dhiraagu for Ramadan this year.

Every year during Ramadan, Dhiraagu releases short films that convey important messages relating to social issues. This year, Dhiraagu released an impactful short film under the slogan, ‘Heyohithun’.

Through the simple act of kindness, young Amee brings joy to Manike Dhatha’s life in this short film. It’s a reminder of the power of helping others and how even the smallest of gestures can make a big impact.

Amee’s friends also lend a helping hand to Manike Dhatha and Amee. In this film, Amee’s school teacher also reiterates the importance of helping others without expecting anything in return – a core value of Islam. She states that doing so would not only help someone but also earn the blessings of Allah.

The film is a powerful depiction of how a simple act of kindness can positively impact someone’s life. It leaves a lasting message that giving without expecting anything in return can bring joy and positivity to the world.

The film’s last scene captures the essence of the message – a small act of kindness can bring immense happiness and can have a profound impact on someone’s life.
