Maldives records highest tourist arrivals for 2021 on Sunday, with over 6,000 passengers.
According to the Tourism Ministry, 6,197 tourists arrived to Maldives on Sunday. This was the most number of arrivals in a single day since Maldives reopened the borders last year after locking down for the pandemic.
The previous recorded highest tourist arrivals was in August, where over 5,000 tourists came to Maldives in a single day.
Maldives have also achieved 90 percent of the goal Tourism Ministry aimed for in terms of tourist arrivals for 2021. Over 923,000 tourists have visited Maldives this year.
The ministry is aiming for 1.3 million tourist arrivals before the year is over, and they are confident this goal will be achieved, especially with the peak season coming.
The most number of tourist visit Maldives from India with over 200,000 tourists, with Russia following close behind with over 177,000 arrivals.
