A large sum of money belonging to Maldives Gas Pvt Ltd, a widely known distributor of cooking gas, has been robbed in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale’.
According to a Police Spokesperson, the perpetrators had snatched the cash while an official of Maldives Gas was on the way to deposit the money near Hulhumale’ Central Mall. Police has yet to reveal an exact figure of the stolen money.
Police are currently investigating the matter, while no arrests have been made in connection to the robbery yet.
There has been no comment from Maldives Gas.
Two months ago, MVR 2.7 million were stolen from Ensis Fisheries company, one of the largest fish exporters in the country, around the same location as this robbery. Police has filed the case of one out of three suspects, at the Prosecutor General’s Office for indiction.
